NOELLE DONFELD, playwright and lyricist, has written nineteen musicals, most of which have been performed by theatres around the country.
MITA, THE MAGNIFICENT (book, lyrics, music) represented by YOUTHplays.com, toured for a year with the Walnut Street Theatre troupe to schools in three states, reaching 8,700 students. MISS VULCAN 1939, (lyrics) was commissioned and produced three times by Red Mountain Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama, and subsequently produced by Actor’s Co-op, Hollywood. THE REVOLUTION OF BETSY LORING (book and lyrics) was selected for a four month workshop for The Tomorrow Project, Casa Manana Theatre, Ft. Worth. It had a subsequent reading Encore Theater in Dayton, Ohio.
PURITANICAL – COFFINS OF THE MAYFLOWER, had a reading produced by DOMA Theatre at The Met in Los Angeles. As PURITANICAL!, it was then selected for the spring reading series by Malibu Playhouse and had a subsequent reading at the NoHo Arts Center. POWDER PUFF PILOTS (lyrics) was part of the University of California, Irvine Musical Theatre Festival and subsequently work-shopped by Hi-Tech High (Adrian Brewley), GHOST-S was selected by Katselas Theatre’s INKubator program, and GHOST-S and POWDER PUFF PILOTS (lyrics) were part of Stages 2011. A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN (lyrics) had its first reading at ANMT. ; THE ANTIQUE SHOPPE, (lyrics) was read and featured in the July/August 2010 issue of “The Dramatist Magazine”; SQUEAK (lyrics) premiered at the La Canada Theatre; GHOST(S) (lyrics) was staged by the Lyric Theatre, L.A, and THE SPARK, HANNAH SENESH, (book and lyrics) was performed at Pacific Palisades Playwrights Festival and at Theatre Building Chicago. CARJACKED! (libretto) premiered at 10 by 10 at the Triangle, the Arts Center, Carrboro, N.C.
Earlier produced works: HANDS, (book, lyrics and co-music) was featured in Stages 2000 at Theatre Building Chicago; TWAS, (lyrics) was commissioned by Nextstage Productions, Houston and work-shopped at the Cashman Theatre and University of Houston, produced by Stuart Ostrow; SHAHRAZAD, HEADS OR TALES, (co-book, lyrics) was read at the Century City Theatre, read by Mercury Musicals, London, and work-shopped by Jon Rivera of Playwrights Arena, and AESOP (book, lyrics) was read at Musical Theatre West. Noelle has also written: FORBIDDEN KINGDOM (lyrics) and BIG TOP (book and lyrics).
A member of the Dramatist Guild, NMI and LAFPI , Noelle is a triple semi-finalist of the Eugene O’Neill Musical Theatre Project.
